My Mother loved birds, bird watching, and their songs. She was always delighted to receive one of my paintings of a bird for any occasion.  Living in western rural South Dakota we always know "spring has sprung" when the Meadowlarks start singing each morning with gusto. We have families of wild grouse, turkey, Downey and Red-headed Woodpeckers, and of course a multitude of sparrows living within feet of our house.  Oh! to find a china paint color to match that Red head of the woodpecker!
