portraits

When I first started to do portraits, Joan Schulte of Iowa told us "never do a portrait of someone you know until you have done at least 100 portraits.  Of course I went right home and did one of my Dad who had passed away earlier that year.  Portraits are the most difficult in my opinion.  What the artist sees and what the loved one sees are usually quite different.  Because of the time involved they are quite expensive but many have said they are worth the cost and time to complete them.   My family said, "You done good!" when they saw my Dad and Mother loved her Christmas gift that year.
